Artist Statement :: Richard Warrington

Richard WarringtonAs an impressionistic sculptor, I design two- and three-dimensional original or limited addition hollow form and silhouette sculptures. My designs emulate an outpouring of my emotional, spiritual and aesthetic response to my daily environment and relationships. My simple human-like forms work as a unit entwined and playing off each other sometimes whimsically, other times dramatically. Line, balance, and strong composition hallmark my work as well as color, buffed finished, and extreme attention to detail.

Powder coated aluminum is my preferred medium, but I also work in stainless steel, corten, bronze and cast acrylics. Sizes range from table to monumental and are suitable for corporate settings, residences, gardens, and public settings. A professional sculpture for over thirty years, I specialize in one-of-a-kind, site specific and collaborated commissioned work. I also have designed which are produced in limited edition series.

I have created work for hospitals, corporations, banks, colleges, hotels, public art projects and am extensively represented in private and corporate collections. My work has been exhibited locally and nationally in galleries that have marketed my sculpture across the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Europe, and South America. Currently, I am represented by galleries in Tampa Bay, Florida; Palm Desert, California; Richmond, Virginia; and Norbrook, Illinois; and have shown my work in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas.

My work has also been featured at Décor Expo and at Palm Springs International Art Fair. In October 2004, I began an 18 month display in the El Paseo Art District in Palm Desert, California. My work has appeared in nationally known art publications as well.

In January 2005, the National Wall Art Gallery in Miami, Florida, will display my work at an International Art Show called "Art Miami."

Educated In Eastern Washington
Make my home between Spokane & Cheney, Washington.

In 1971, I opened my studio in Spokane. After the 1974 World's Fair in Spokane, my studio was moved to my country home near Cheney and the town of Marshal, Washington.

in 1991, my studio burned along with my log home. Faced with recreating myself, I traveled to New York City where I displayed my work at Art Expo. I have returned there every year since.

During 2004 and for 2005, I have been quite active in marketing myself to designers and galleries across the United States.
